Engine Air Filter Secondary Element - Replace
6. Inspect the pri
mary air filter element before
installation. If the pleats, the gaskets, or the
seals are damaged, replace the primary air filter
element.
7. Clean the inside of the air cleaner housing.
8. Install a clean, dry primary air filter element.
ensure that the seal is made between the primary
air filter el
ement and the air cleaner housing.
9. Clean the air cleaner cover. Install the air cleaner
cover and en
gage the latches.
10. Lower the hood.
Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual,
“Hood Control”.
11. Start the engine. If the indicator for the air filter
is illuminated replace the secondary air filter
element.

tempt to reuse it by cleaning. Engine damage could

The primary air filter element is serviced for the

ird time.

The indicator for the air filter is illuminated after the
pr
imary air filter element has been serviced. Refer
to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Monitoring
System”.
Park the machine on a level surface. Ensure that the
parking brake is fully engaged. Lower the truck body

r OEM attachment and shut off the engine.

2. Carefully release the seal by rocking or twisting
seconda
ry air filter element (1). Remove the
secondary air filter element from air cleaner
housing (2).
3. Cover the air inlet opening. Clean the inside of
the air cleaner housing.
4. Uncover the air inlet opening. Install a new
secondary air filter element. Ensure that the seal
is made
between the secondary air filter element
and the air cleaner housing.

all the air cleaner cover and engage the three
latches.
